Can you help me if I’ve owned a home in the past?

Yes. We provide assistance to everyone who wishes to purchase a home or wants to be educated about the purchase process.

How often are your classes?

We offer them once a month on a Saturday except in December. In June & July we offer a split class on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. You can find more specific times and locations listed in our class schedule.

What is the cost of the workshop

The class fee is $85 if you register at least a week prior to class and $100 after. We recommend that you sign up for the class ahead of time to make sure you have a spot in the class. Each class is capped at 15 families or approximately 30 people.

When does pre-registration end?

You can pre-register and get the discounted rate a week or more in advance.

What time does class start?

Morning classes start at 8:30 a.m. and doors are unlocked at 8:15 a.m. Evening classes start at 5:30 p.m. and doors are unlocked at 5:15 p.m.

Do I need to bring anything to class?

You can bring a notepad for notes and lunch or snack if you would like. You will get an hour off to do as you please.

Are there any income limits to your services?

No. The Home Buyer Education Class is open to everyone, regardless of income.

Do I make enough money to qualify for a mortgage?

Our Home Buyer Education class and counseling sessions will cover mortgage qualification and addresses barriers to getting a mortgage. For those with low income, it can be possible to buy a home. However, some low income families may need assistance programs in order to purchase a home. We will go over different options when you meet with us one on one with a counselor.

If I have a lot of debt, will this affect how much I can borrow?

Yes. One of the biggest obstacles facing many home buyers is too much debt. Your monthly debt is taken into consideration when a lender determines the mortgage amount for which you qualify. Our counselors will show you how to determine how much debt is too much and, if necessary, help you develop a debt reduction plan along with a budget.

Can you fix my credit for me?

No, only you can improve your credit. However, a counselor can help you through the process. We also discuss credit and buying habits in the Home Buyer Education class. Counselors will help you apply the knowledge from class to your own situation.

Do you pull all three credit scores?

We only pull two out of the three credit bureaus; TransUnion and Experian.

Does a credit pull hurt my credit?

We have a special counseling license that doesn’t affect your credit score when we do a credit pull.
